Résumé : | The International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) is a non-governmental organization that continuously monitors the ability and willingness of governments and companies to comply with the substance of the International Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes, adopted by the World Health Assembly in May 1981. The code aims to promote safe and adequate nutrition for infants, by protecting breastfeeding and ensuring appropriate marketing of breastmilk substitutes. The present paper looks back over 25 years of IBFAN's campaigning, at the achievements and defeats, the challenges ahead, and the lessons to be learnt and shared. The code is presented in its entirety as Appendix 1. Other related resolutions of the World Health Assembly are presented in Appendix 2. |
