"Wolf JB. Is breast really best: risk and total mother-hood in the National Breast-Feeding Awareness campaign. J Health Polit Policy Law 2007;32:595-636. Although this column typically has been used to examine original research articles, we have chosen, in this issue of JHL, to take a closer look at a commentary published in the August 2007 issue of the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law. In her article, Dr Wolf challenges the ethics of the US National Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign (NBAC) launched in 2004. The campaign included messages that focused on the risks associated with not breastfeeding rather than the traditional approach referring to the benefits of breastfeeding. Dr Wolf asserts that a risk-based approach is unethical for a government-sponsored public health campaign used to promote breastfeeding." (Extrait de l'article)
